Sept. 30 in NYC: An Intimate Evening with Carol Queen
Lambda Literary Award winning author and sex educator Carol Queen will be making a rare visit to NYC for the NYC Sex Blogger 2011 Calendar release party on October 1st at Fontana’s (see below!), where she’ll perform from her solo spoken word piece, “Peep Show.”
On September 30th from 8:00 to 10:00pm, Tied Up Events will be hosting an intimate gathering with Carol. She will lead a discussion about Exhibitionism in the Age of the Internet. Included topics will be online options for exhibitionists; privacy issues and cautions; pseudonyms or writing naked; what’s up with sexting; and more! If there’s time, we’ll turn to the topic of online sex-positive culture and its discontents, looking at the craigslist situation, the upsurge of anti-porn/anti-sex voices and so forth.
Carol is also looking to talk with sex bloggers for an upcoming book and meet supporters of her work as founding director of the Center for Sex & Culture, and Good Vibes has authorized her to tell interested bloggers and webhosts about GV’s affiliate program. (She’ll bring a few books to sell also, in case you want to add to your library; she can take cash or checks.) Good Vibes is also providing $10 gift cards for attendees (while supplies last).
Although this event is free, space is limited and a reservation will be required. Please complete the contact form at Tied Up Events ( http://e2ma.net/go/6803681358/20832
The announcement of this book is an accomplishment for Crystal Blanton and myself. I was the editor.
